CARRIE L. WRIGHT

Carrie Wright is a deeply committed artist whose work demonstrates an exceptional combination of artistic vision, technical expertise, professional discipline, and community engagement. She is a lifelong creator who has spent eighteen years developing her studio practice, with a particular focus on mastering the specialized medium of silk painting. Since 2018, she has dedicated herself to building a professional full-time art business around this work.

A self-taught artist and visionary thinker, Wright feels absolute freedom to push the boundaries of what can be achieved on silk as a substrate, every piece of art an exploration of color and abstract expression. Her early portfolio includes more than 30 large-scale commissioned works, some measuring approximately 55 by 96 inches. Her work over the last six years has been accepted into multiple fine-art juried exhibitions and has received awards, providing meaningful validation from the broader arts community.

Wright spent her early adult years after college working her way up the corporate ladder in business to business technology sales in the compliance sector of the Financial Services industry. Although she found the lucrative work deeply unfulfilling and made the bold life decision to leave it all behind in 2005, it did hone her excellent communication and organizational skills. She maintains her art studio on the second floor of the historic Murray Building in downtown Muncie, Indiana and lives just five blocks away in the Old West End with her husband Dan Wright, also an artist.

She also serves on the board of Muncie’s Downtown Development Partnership and is the current president of Muncie Art Student’s League which is dedicated to discussing the arts and encouraging Ball State University graduating art students with cash awards.
